DEATH VALLEY 2019
Centered between the Panamint and Amargosa Mountain Ranges, Death Valley National Park is the hottest, driest and lowest of the National Parks. It is a remarkable display of geologic formations of contrasting colors and patterns, arid desert landscape. Most importantly, for me, it provides a treasure trove of photographic opportunities.
I had not been to Death Valley since 1989 and was eager to see what interesting forms and colors I could capture during our early March visit. Unfortunately, access to some sites like Dante’s View and Artist's Drive was prohibited because of more substantial rains this year, and the U.S. Government shutdown that delayed park maintenance. Fortunately, Badwater Basin, Zabriskie Point, Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes and various sites along the main park road were accessible. With good weather and access to these locations, we were able to capture some satisfying images.
