PERSONAL INFORMATION

BORN: Los Angeles, California…1943 during WWII…ration books and Walter Winchell.

First pictures I remember…scrapbooks and Life Magazine.

GREW UP:  Rancho Park…parking cars for the LA Open, paper route, delivering prescriptions for Rancho Park Pharmacy.

First car was a 1954 Ford Fairlane coupe.

COLLEGE: UCLA…six years, Master’s in Zoology…too much fun to go to med school.

Ahhh, the Wooden years!

MILITARY: Drafted 1968…Vietnam 1969…General Staff, Fort Sill 1970…defining moments.

A lifetime friend and discovering photography made it worthwhile.

MARRIED: 1972 to wonderful, loving wife, Jan…more defining moments…daughter, Lisa, born 1977.

PASSIONS:  Photography, travel, music, and great wine.

“Life is too short to drink cheap wine.”

FAVORITE THINGS: Antinori wines, my piano, my cameras, Keith Jarrett piano solos, art and history books, movies and sushi.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS: Holding my daughter right after she was born; hearing the monks at evening vespers in San Mineato, Florence; experiencing Vivaldi's Four Seasons live at the Palace in Salzburg.

FAVORITE ARTISTS: Bernini, Caravaggio, Leonardo, Degas, Donatello, Giambologna, Kandinsky, Klimt, Michelangelo, Monet, O’Keefe, Rembrandt, Renoir, Richter, Rodin, Rothko, Titian, and Van Gogh.

FAVORITE QUOTES: “He who does not know history is condemned to relive it.”

“It’s not the years, it’s the mileage.”

“No balls, no blue chips.”

“Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill.”

BEST TIMES:  Anytime with friends or family...every Christmas...each time in Europe, especially Italy.

WORST TIMES: Calendar 1969 and January 17, 1994 at 4:31 AM...

“Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On!”

DISLIKE: Zealots of any kind, people who don’t get it, the acceleration of time that increases with age, not understanding something.

“God save me from fools and stiffs!”

WHAT’S NEXT: A better Margarita, a game more fun than Forza, better sushi, the ultimate picture...?

“I don’t know, I’m making this up as I go!”
