BRADBURY BUILDING

The Bradbury Building in downtown Los Angeles is the oldest, landmarked, functioning office building in the city.  Although its exterior is unremarkable, the interior is an architectural treasure.  The five-story, sky lit, open central court is a masterpiece of Victorian design. Marble staircases, wrought iron railings capped with finished oak arranged in geometric patterns, along with two open caged elevators that rise to the top, provide a breath taking experience when entering the central court. The glass ceiling floods the court with light that changes throughout the day offering countless opportunities to capture different views and moods within the building.

The Bradbury is one of the most photographed buildings in L.A. and has been featured in many movies, most prominently in Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner.  Although public access is restricted to the first floor, which limits photographic possibilities, here are some favorite images captured early on a sunny Saturday morning.
